Carmin:Gossamer Goddess( Morph Phase 1)
Inner conflict over time spent in fleshspace versus time spent in screenal
realities inspired this triptych. Much of my artwork is based on my binary
affinities. Fleshspace is so demanding that cyberspace is always an enticing
alternative.
Transitioning from fleshspace to cyberspace creates tension in this image. The
human form is echoed throughout the transition as a reminder that even as we allow
ourselves to become fully digitized, we still maintain a fleshspace existence.
The digital form is a reflection of the person who is being transformed. This is
an intriguing metaphor for the web, since a cyberpresence is a facet of an
individual. The form exists in multiple states while morphing. This is also
metaphoric because one's cyberpresence can be in several simultaneous states in
cyberspace -- a space that almost encourages exploration of alternate identities.

Carmin:Morphs into( Morph Phase 2)
The human form ultimately becomes a pixel cloud. My electric blue braids
symbolize extensions into vast new zones of blended voices. The cyberscape is rich
with countless rhizomatic tendrils seeking links. Recombinant perceptions weave
our cyber-future. We are code. Our code now extends beyond our genetic structure
to become the cyberscapes foundation. We havent had time to fully sort out what
were experiencing, because were living at the speed of digital communication.
...Not fast enough for mind2mind links, but alwaysalready too fast for our flesh,
yet another reason to seek refuge in cyberspace.
