a few steps further along, the Batik Workshop

wax, paint and all supervised by an skillful and extremely enthusiastic team.

To my right I noticed a large telephoto lens composing a photo of a woman holding a mop...behind the lens...Suzy Mizrahi the event organizer; holding the mop Liz Lavender also event organiser!

I managed to catch Suzy for a chat. What do you think Suzy?

"Brilliantly organised!" Suzy replied

"It isn't raining and there's a fantastic turnout, it's just brilliant. It feels like we have leafleted every child in Bath; and it feels like most of them are here! Everything is so well attended...it's wonderful. There really is a brilliant community spirit here, there are lots of volunteers from all sorts of different groups coming to help out in the various art tents."

"People have come from a very long way out, from all over; and there's more ...much more to come."

"We did it last year and the year before, every year we get bigger...and better funding, it's just growing. This year the theme is, 'The Global Village' and what we have tried to do is to have activities from all round the world. Today we had native American dancing, Sue Hart from Baka Beyond doing songs from the rainforest. We've got creatures from East Asia and African masks and the Batiks were going to be local Batiks but they have ended up being..."

At that very moment...as if on cue...although it certainly wasn't... Suzy's daughter ran up to us proudly holding out her latest creation.

"...ooh look here's my daughter who has made a Batik!"

Later I chatted to a friend who was sat under a tree, reading a paper.
"I have only got one kid with me today, I don't know where he is...but he knows where I am!"
says it all really, doesn't it?
